Malen / Tualen

Tualen or Malen is one of the assistant character in the puppet tradition in Bali. This character is similar like Semar in Java’s puppet tradition. In Balinese puppet, Tualen is describe like an old ugly man, black skin, but inside of his appearance, he is a good person, good attitude, very polite, and a good advice man. Generally, in Balinese puppet, he has 3 suns, such as Merdah, Delem and Sangut. All of the (including Tualen) are the famous assistant in Balinese society.
